More than a mom. More than a dad. More than a daughter. More than a son. More than a spouse.Being a family member to your loved one is important. And, in itself, it is a big job. But moms, dads, daughters, sons, spouses, siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles everywhere know that being a family member and also being the primary caregiver to a loved one with a disability or a chronic illness takes more than love and showing up. It takes care. This spring, people who are called to care everywhere are standing up and saying “I’m more than a mom. I’m more than a dad. I’m more than a spouse. I’m a caregiver, too.” Those of us who step up and take on the responsibility of caring for someone we love dearly deserve to be recognized for what we truly are: caregivers. Yes, you’re a mom, too. But you’re more than that. You are a caregiver. Join the Colorado Respite Coalition, an organization that advocates for rest and resources for caregivers, this spring and receive a free “ask me about caregivers” button in the mail! Guess who visited Zach's Place kiddos? The TOOTH FAIRY! Cavity Free Kids is a special grant from the CDPHE to teach children and their families about tooth decay and what they can do to prevent it. The program includes a collection of lessons, activities, stories, songs, and other resources that actively engage young children in fun-filled, play-based learning and help parents practice good oral health habits at home. Our ZP Nurse, Kathleen Winder conducted the screenings and is one of five trained Childcare Health Consultants that will be conducting screenings in the various UPK schools throughout the Pikes Peak Region. The children brush their teeth while at our center and each have their own toothbrush labeled with their name. We use books, songs, giant teeth and other activities to stress the importance of caring for their teeth. How fun! #WeAreSKSF #SKSF #CavityFreeKids #dentalhygiene #HealthySmiles #zachsplace ... Getting the garden ready for the last frost date takes a lot of teamwork, and Building Connections has been stepping up in a big way! They’ve been working together to assemble sunshades for the planters, sand and stain outdoor furniture, create pest management reference sheets, tend to the seedlings, and, of course, add plenty of heart into the garden art. Collaboration, communication, and a whole lot of creativity are getting us ready for summer garden season! #WeAreSKSF #SKSF #SKSFGardensGrow ... See MoreSee Less
