SKSF Receives Grant at Colorado Springs Safeway Re-Grand Opening Celebration

August 21, 2019: Safeway, at 2110 N. Wahsatch in Colorado Springs, hosted a ribbon cutting event with employees and community members on Wednesday, August 21st at 10 am as part of a re-grand opening celebration.  The store underwent a significant remodel totaling over .5 million in improvements.  At the ribbon cutting event, Safeway presented a check for ,000 to Special Kids Special Families for their Zach’s Place child and respite care program to help low income families raising children with disabilities.  These funds were collected from the People With Disabilities campaign which ran in Safeway stores throughout July where individuals could make a donation at check-out. In addition, a ,500 grant was presented to Ronald McDonald House of Southern Colorado to support their newly opened house.  Zach’s Place program Director, Dianna Manz and Zach’s Place Assistant Director, Thomas Hensley were presented with a check from Tara Kramer, Safeway Store Manager. Colorado State Representative Larry Liston, a long time customer at this store, was present with Sam Rush-Walton of Ronald McDonald House and additional store staff members.
